Let Your Kids Drop Out! Part 2

In Part 1, I asserted that the public education system is not really the failure that it seems. The problem is that every normal person thinks that the education system should...you know...educate. But those who set the system up chose a system designed to indoctrinate the masses and make them good little rule followers. And in that regard it has been a wonderful success.

This is why one particular political party screams bloody murder anytime someone from the the other party suggests that maybe the parents should get to choose what type of education the child gets. And maybe, just maybe, the money collected from the taxpayer, for the purposes of educating that student, should go to whatever school said parents select for said child.

They scream because that party is very interested in parents not choosing. The politicians want a school system that churns out students that are rule following clones. They aren't much interested in individualism or raising citizens capable of thinking for themselves.

I hope whoever made this sign isn't a member of the teachers' union.

They're also interested in keeping students in the public education system, because doing so increases demand for teachers. And teachers in the public education system join the teachers union. In fact, in most states teachers are forced to join and pay dues, which increases the union's power in D.C.  It has enough power that it basically owns one of the political parties. And this party seems to dance to whatever tune the union decides to play.

Don't infer from the above statement to mean that I have any love for either party. One just happens to be right on this issue. But both parties are wrong about plenty. Now back to your child's education.

The ideal solution is to get your child out of the school system ASAP and home school them. And if your family is in a situation to do so, I highly recommend that you do it. But many are not in a situation to home school their children. For them I have an even more radical idea. As soon as it is legal to do so, just have your kid drop out and get their GED.

This home schooled kid will probably be a dork into his early 20's, but he'll also be your kid's boss.

Now a lot of parents seem to think that this is crazy. As if a high school diploma is something worthy of attainment...it's not. Don't get me wrong the GED isn't great, but getting a GED at least saves you 2-3 years, which makes it better than a high school diploma.

Now that's not the radical part. The radical part is to encourage your kids to not try very hard in school. They need to try just hard enough that they learn the info needed to pass the GED test when the time comes. Since the GED test isn't very hard, your child can basically just screw off and enjoy life until 3-12 months before they are going to take the test.

When I say this to people they look at me like I'm crazy. As if children's main purpose is to strive really hard from ages 5-18 in order to get good grades from a bureaucrat. And seriously, when was the last time you went to a job interview & had the interviewer analyze how well you did in freshman English? Nobody cares! All they ask is if you have a high school diploma or GED. And they mark down yes or no. Beyond that no one cares. So teach your kids to not invest time in an endeavor that will likely have little pay off. Kids should put out just enough effort to get C's...maybe a few B's.

Another thing, you should strongly discourage you kids from joining any extra curricular activities. These days extra curricular activities are insanely expensive. A few years ago I was talking to my friend about the cost of her daughter joining the high school cheer team. The parents had spent over $4000.00 in the first two months!!! Are you kidding me?!?!? And after high school what will she have to show for it? Nothing. Instead, stick that girl in an MMA gym and after 4 years of high school you'll at least have daughter that can defender herself from would-be attackers.

Ok, I'm running a little long on this. So it looks like this topic, which was originally going to be just one article, will now be three parts. Deuces.

Let Your Kids Drop Out! Part 1

You hear it all the time, "The school system is a failure!" or some similar sentiment. Well, I'm not sure that's true. Sure, America spends more money on education then any other country. That may or may not be true. I'm not gonna bother looking it up, but let's pretend it is true. Researching articles would add a lot of work to this article, and you wouldn't remember the data anyway...neither would I.

Yet every year the kids get dumber and dumber. Again, I'm not going to look that up.

Some would say that this is evidence of the failure of public education, but they would be wrong. You see, the people that pull the strings, they're not dumb...evil maybe, but not dumb. And when people, who are not dumb, seem to fail over and over, and do not change course, but drive on all the harder...it should make you wonder.

He's frustrated because he knows he's not getting a real education.

It makes me wonder. I wonder things like: What if their stated goal isn't their real goal? What if educating children isn't the point of all of it? What if there is another purpose?

I've read about all of this before. I could go back find all my old sources and cite them, but I think you are catching on to how I do things.

For those of you who don't know, we didn't always have a public education system, Children were taught at home or went to a Little House on the Prairie type schoolhouse. And then some controlling douche bags decided that everybody needed the same type of education...but not really. When they chose the type of system that America should have, they chose the Prussian System.

The Prussian  System was very elitist. The children of the elite, got a liberal education. I don't have time to get into what comprises a "liberal education" just know that going back at least to Jefferson, a liberal education was considered the best. In fact, Jefferson stated that any kid who showed that he might possibly become a genius should be allowed to pursue such an education regardless of their background.

Under the Pussian System only the children of the elite got this superior education.  The rest of the children got an education that emphasized “harmony, obedience, freedom from stressful thinking and how to follow orders.” And so it would be with our education system. Woodrow Wilson said:

"We want one class of persons to have a liberal education and we
want another class of persons, a very much larger class of
necessity, to forgo the privileges of a liberal education."

Now, again, that sounds kind of elitist.

"I'm about to graduate and still can't do fractions."

You see, the public education system was never designed to educate your children. The children of the elites would get a real education. And your children would be thrown into an education system designed to teach them "how to follow orders.” The public education system isn't a failure, it was simply designed to indoctrinate children.

Okay, I'm running a little long. I don't know why, but I thought that this would be one nice short post. But it's looking like it will stretch into at least two. So check back for the upcoming second post in this series.

What is Masculinity?

I have thought about this a lot, and I think I may have actually figured it out.

I could just tell you, but internet "gurus" say that search engines hate short posts.

So first let's talk about what masculinity is not.

PUA gurus and their man whore followers say, or I sense a strong implication, that a high notch count is manly. And certainly in centuries past the manliest men would accumulate large harems to satisfy their every sexual whim. These women apparently thought it better to share one manly man than to have one substandard man to their self. But being able to bed drunk women with questionable morals (the general PUA tactic), does not equal masculinity.

This guy is not necessarily masculine...in fact he's probably not.

Some men who have acquired significant wealth would have you believe that the financial success is the measure of manhood. And of course a man should financially care for himself and his family. There is nothing manly about a grown able bodied man who won't support himself or his family. But to assume that financial success, in the absence of any other masculine virtue, is all it takes to be a man is ludicrous.

Although I'm definitely jealous, this isn't masculinity either.

I have known criminals that tout their criminal activities as signs of their manliness. They say silly things like, "Ain't no one gonna tell me what to do, cause I'm a Man!" As if rebellion against the powers that be for no reason and often with no benefit equals manliness.

And the last group I'll touch on are the pseudo alphas. These guys are every where. And it has gotten worse with the rise of the Manosphere. These guys think that all it takes to be alpha is a scowl, a bad attitude and a disregard for others. These guys, because of their lack of self awareness, think they have attained manliness when they've only heightened their douchebagginess.

So what is manliness? What does it take to be a man? What is the essence of being a man?

Strength. Strength of body. Strength of mind.

Strength is the foundation of manliness. Out of it grow the other masculine virtues. Even Jack Donovan's 4 tactical virtues grow out of the bedrock of Strength.

Rosie's strong, but not masculine.

Now I'm sure someone is saying "No way! Woman can be strong too!" And then they'll probably spew some feminist, girl power clap trap about women being stronger than men.

I don't want to get into my opinions on strength as it applies to women, except to say: yes, women can and should be strong. But strength is not the essence of femininity. A woman can be weak and still be womanly.

Not so for a man. For a man, strength is a part of who he is. Men who eschew strength, as is so popular these days, cannot hope to be a masculine man.

This is why the America is full of men with an identity crisis. American men under 40 have spent their entire lives in a society where the attitudes concerning masculinity are largely shaped by women who hate men. This latest wave of feminism is an attempt to bring the strength of men down to the level of women. And the previous generation stood by and watched it happen.

But this is why we're here. We know there is a problem. But there is also a solution and it starts with those of us who see the problem. The first step is to be a man.

Start working on yourself.  Become the proverbial light shining in the darkness. Become a beacon of manliness.

Start working on your weaknesses. Are you skinny and weak? Hit the gym. Don't like working out? Man up. Are you not well read? Head over to Project Gutenberg and start reading the classics for free. Read Plato, Socrates, Marcus Aurelius, Machiavelli. Read the writings of the Founding Fathers. Hop on over to Amazon.com and grab a copy of The Way of Man by Jack Donovan (<---By using this affiliate link you help support the blog. And seriously...read this book.)

Steve Reeves had at least 1/2 of the masculinity equation down pat.

Become a man that other men are drawn to. Being a man that other men want to emulate is the first step in gaining influence with other men. And only by influencing other men can we stem the tide of suckage in this world.

What I See

Problems...everywhere I look I see problems. Some of these problems seem totally unrelated, and of course many of them are unrelated. But for the longest time I've had a feeling that I couldn't shake. A feeling that some things that seem unrelated are in fact related. A feeling that some problems have the same root cause.

I hear people propose solutions, but they don't understand the root of the problem and thus their proposals are, at best, just a band-aid on a gaping chest wound. But I think I may have found the root.

I'm not the only one to see the root of the problem. There just aren't enough people talking about the root of the problem.

The problem is that men have become weak. They possess not just physical weakness, but mental weakness and weakness of character. And when half of the population is being taught through television, through the internet and through the public education system that Weakness is a virtue, then that culture is doomed.

Well, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of  seeing ignorant and/or morally repugnant individuals tell young men that weakness is better than strength, that ignorance is better than knowledge, laziness is better than diligence and that status is more important than character.

Welcome to Masculine Ideals. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I'm the manliest man ever. I don't for a second think that I am perfect. I was never a  professional athlete. I was never the CEO of a fortune 500 company. I don't have a college degree, a prestigious career or even a high notch count.

I'm just some guy. A guy who regrets the decline of masculinity. A guy who thinks that masculinity is good, and that society suffers when there are fewer masculine men. A guy who has himself, at times, slipped into decidedly unmasculine ways of thinking and behaving. A man who is determined not to make those same mistakes again. A guy determined to be better.

So bookmark this page and come back as together we explore how to be better men, and in so doing, just maybe, add a little good back into the world.
